Sleeping in.

It must be nice to sleep in and not worry what time you are going to be at work. It must be nice to know that you get a free pass because you are an avid sports fan and do not have to show up on time, unlike the rest of the world.

I am venting out of jealously. Where did I go wrong, that I am working a full time job? I would like to work 3-4 days a week and have enough funds to be able to do what I want to do, all the time. Maybe I would not be so frustrated if it was not in my face all the time.

I will be reassessing my goals immediately.

Decisions.

Decisions.

The Assistant Manager

***This story/rant is based on actual events. Names may have been changed to protect the stupid***

We are in a sales driven business. This means if you can do nothing else, sales should be your strong point. Albeit, I like to think of it as more of an education to our consumer rather than a sale. But, I digress...

With that in mind, sales are your number one priority and one should keep that as the main focus.

Yes, it is important that your team respect you by proven facts. Meaning, your numbers are reflective of the place you want your staff to strive towards. You must create an example withing yourself. Granted we are not all good at everything. This is why you choose key people as your team mates. They pick up where you lack.

As a manager, you keep things in order, you are to assure the environment is running smoothly. You are the 'go to' person for questions. You get answers and demand results. You smile and listen intently when they tell you stories about their lives, because you actually care about your staff. You care, because you know this will create an environment that people want to be in. This environment will drive them to work efficiently. If your staff hates you and cannot respect your decisions or understand why you make the decisions you make, then you will not last...

I say this, A.M. be very weary of how you tread. As decisions you make will impact your future.. And with no one to watch over you, to have your back, what will happen when the rebellion takes place?

I watch in anticipation of what will become. As I want so much for everyone to be successful, yet, we do bring it on ourselves.

Sleep deprived. Not pleased.

I need at least 8 hours of sleep to properly function. While I can cope with the day on less, I am more on edge. I tend to get headaches. I am generally not as perky and one should be. This is an uncomfortable feeling.

Last night I slept for what seemed like 7 minutes. After working a long day and coming home to no dinner, dogs barking and a the house a mess (as I left in a rush). I realized I had to fend for myself.

I decided to go to bed close to 11pm, thinking this would give me the 8 hours of wonderful sleep that I do rightfully deserved!

At 1am I began to get texts about the Yankees winning, and here's a little secret, if I cared, I would have been awake watching! Then at about 2am a drunken fiance stumbled in the door. I know this because he wanted to make sure he didn't wake me by turning on the lights, and making all sorts of noises as he walked into things. I rolled over. Thanking him for his consideration. Then the fun began, the constant snoring ALL NIGHT LONG. I lay there wide awake starting at about 430am. And finally after asking 14million times for him to go the other bedroom, I decided to get ready for work.

I thought that maybe I could find some peace on the couch. To which I learned was being taken by his partner in crime. I had no where to go. So, I did what any woman would do in my situation. I decided to return the favor of being so considerate and telling him how wonderful he had been during the few moments of sleep.

I left the house at a crisp 6:40am and drove to work. 2 hours early. This is why I will get a gold star at work today. I hope the star matches my hair...

Sports

I do not get how someone can get so wrapped up in a game that they are not even playing. A few questions come to mind...

#1 Have you ever played this sport? Or are you too lazy to get off the bar stool that you need to pretend that you are this player.

#2 Do you even know what you are talking about when you discuss this sport, or are you coping the announcers?? I have heard a lot of B.S. come out of peoples mouths and its quite amusing. Please continue talking! We do love it.

#3 Does this one game have to take over your life to the point that you are incapable of acknowledging anything else around you.

Ger over it!

And then lets discuss the "World Series" if it is really just an American playoff game (including one team from Canada) why the title of 'World'? This is yet another reason that we are so selfish we cannot realize that there are other countries out there other than America.

Figure it out. Immediately.

Credit Card Fraud, experience #2

I got a "Returned Check Fee" to $39 posted to my account Friday. Weird. I do not write checks from my credit card. Tuesday I get my mail and realize that I have a letter from the bank that states, "The $14,000 check you tried to cash was returned due to insufficient funds." This is still weird as I do not write checks from that account.

There are so many things wrong with the letter and the $39 retunred check fee.

#1 - Since when do I, in my long history of banking, write $14,000 checks to anyone
#2 - Why do they choose to send a letter, and not a phone call? A bounced check of that magnitude does not deserve a telephone call???
#3 - After I speak to the customer fraudulent department I then get an email, yes email, saying there is fraudulent activity on my account.

Clearly I am aware of that now!!! My problem with this situation is that the bank representatives still didn't call me. Yes, they attempted every other avenue of communication, EXCEPT the phone call. The one way I would want to be reached if someone was in the process of robbing me for more than I am worth.

I just do not understand what the hell is wrong with people. Here is why:

The moron who took my mail and then proceeded to write a check, wrote it out to someones name?! YES, someones actual name. Keep in mind as well, had I had $14,000 laying around, they would have been able to take it, with the only question being, "How did you want that, $100's?"

Stupid, stupid, stupid.

I ask the very nice bank lady (who has now told me her life story about her husbands checks and how they come pre-printed), if I can press charges. She advises me that since they were not able to actually get anything out of me, that the bank can do nothing for me and I would have to go to local authorities.

You bet your ass I'm going to the police station. This is the the 2nd time in 6 months I have had to get a new credit card.

It is obvious to all involved that my mail is in jeopardy!

I truly hate my building.

amy had a baby.... LOL

Scene: home 1030p
Why: I'm a stalker
Feelings: hysterical, yet anxious

Amy had a baby. Amy has been divorced for 1.3 years, which means she
was preggors shortly after her "seperation". Whore. Now I thinks it
bloody hysterical that she is now with child, unmarried, "in a
relationship" with her allegeded ex-boyfriend. Who by they way looks
like a tall immigrant with too much facial hair. Yeah, he's a hot mess
too. So, back to amy, the now divorced for a short time, knocked up
way to quick from someone else.

I had to share these awful photos to evryone who knows, amy "divorced
recently, preggors asap" even the bf will know and see, once he is
okay with the fact that his exwife has just recently had a baby!!!

He is so lucky they seperated. Clearly she's a mess.

me time

I have realized that I need more me time. You know, the time that you can actually do things for yourself, with time to spare. Like the every fun and exciting, laundry. Dishes. Walking the dog. I seem to not have enough time for the things I want to do. I seem to not have enough time to do the things I need to do. Its frustrating. For example, I mentally prepared myself to get the 10 items I needed to do done before I had to leave for work at 130p today.

an example......

Scene: 624am
Situation: My boyfriends phone ringing
Why: Who the hell knows
Emotion: Annoyed that I am awake far earlier than I wanted to be

We are soundly sleeping, as the dog has climbed into bed and this of course means Im suffocating and cannot breath, but would take this over him pacing and barking that he wants to go out any day... I had been advised the night before that the plumber and contractor were arriving at his house at 7am for some paperwork that apprently cannot be filled out during normal hours.

He is adding a second bath and this seems to be taking forever. (I cannot imaging what a kitchen remodel would entail and hope to never have to live through that.)

Anyhow, because of this aweful hour of "paperwork filling out" someone feels the need to call him at 630am. No, it is not the plumber or the contractor. Its a firend who just wants to chat. I look at him with disgust and wonder "who chats at 630am??!?!?!?!"

The only person I ever call at that hour is my mother, who by the way wakes up at 3am most days, and I cannot even beging to understand how she makes it through the day.

He gets off the phone, after a quick conversation, and I and still wondering "who chats at 630am?!"

Good thing that phone call happened as the plumber NEVER SHOWED and the contractor arrived at a prompt 745am.

Shortly there after I received a slue of phone calls from work. From 750am to 802am I got two people calling out on the same shift.

Good times. Needless to say, I would love more me time!

rude rude rude

We have a policy where I work that we must hold appointments with credit cards. We do this to ensure that the guest shows up. We do this to ensure that the employee gets paid if they don't show up. while sometimes we are not able to collect payment as it is declined, it is an "insurance" that they realize this is something that should be taken more seriously than a trip to the mall...

With that said, when I tell a guest that "we need a credit card to hold your appointment, and the only reason we would charge it is in the event that you do not show up for the appointment, so that we are able to pay the employee for thier time."

The proper response is not: "that is bullshit, you should not need a credit card, I dont have a credit card, I dont see why you need it. I will not give you a credit card." Now maybe you have realized what I realized, you have a credit card, as you just stated you won't give it to me. Anyhow, no need to point out that they are a liar.

My response: "Ma'am, like I said the only reason we would ever charge your card is if you did not show up, so that we can pay for the employees time, as they do not get paid if you do not show up. I realize that you have every intention of showing up, however, things do happen."

Her response: "That is not right, I don't see why you need a credit card, I'm not giving you a credit card."

My response: "Again, we would only charge you if you didn't show up..."

Her response: "That's bullshit, this doesn't need to be so goddamm hard."

My response: "I don't apprecaite you cursing me, I would rather not continue this conversation at this time, please call us back when you have calmed down."

She hung up on me.

Dependability

They say that the economy is in a recession and today I was watching CNN and realized that the only facets that are doing well are retail and health care. So I'm sort of safe.

Yes, some weeks I have to work 78 million hours, but its worth it in the end.... I really do enjoy the day to day activities. This is not my point.

What I want to talk about it is dependability. I feel guilt if I go on vacation or take time off (sometimes). Yes, I know this shouldn't be. Yes, I know I'm crazy for feeling this way... but what I think and know to be crazy is when someone doesn't care about their place of employment.

While I realize that every place one works is not a "career move" it is still a stepping stone to your future. How you act in a part time job will only be magnified in a full time position. Maybe you say, "I don't care about my part time job", "its just for now", "its not what I really want to do"... But I must say that how you act in one position is how you will act in future positions. If you will not go the extra mile in your part time job, I'm sure you will not do it in your full time position.

Dependability is one of the most in demand quailites that you can possess....

punctuation

Appprently I know far more people that I should who are concerned with punctuation! After sharing the blog with some of my peeps, I receieved not one but numerous responses on my punctuation, or lack of, skills. The problem I seem to have it that I write like I speak and to be honest, I do not understand the punctuation problems that I seemingly have. Needless to say, I will attempt to be better at punctuation...

The Repo Man, he does exist!

When: 2:37am Thursday February 12, 2009
Where: Building next to me, luckily right outside my window
State of mind: sleeping, then incredibly intrigued by yelling

Once upon a time there lived a girl who thought she wanted to keep up with the Jones'.She financed herself a car, tinted it, and would sit in the parking lot blasting music at all hours of the day. She was a happy girl...

But...

February 12, 2009 changed her life!

The Repo man, a fairy tale charachter came into her life. She had only heard of this fictional characher through stories of others. She thought to herself that he did not really exist. He would never find her! After all, she was in fact, the ONLY person he could never find!

Kids, she was not safe.He came, he took, she screamed! She did not understand why the Repo man was taking her car!? Did he not know she was the only person who was able to get away with no car payment?! How dare the Repo man.

The End

bank issues

Sent: Thursday, January 29, 2009 1:37 PM
To: Bank
Subject: Comment : # 2 Branch

Each time I go into the branch to get change, I call change in prior to
going in. To make is easier and per their request. It seems as though they do not understand what I am there for. I say that I have called in change, I am from my company name... they do not seem to get it. I am not sure if there is a lot of new tellers or is they are simply uninterested in helping me. But it takes about 4 to 5 statements of "yes i called in change" or "i called this in ahead of time, per your
request" or "yes I did indeed call in change and I am from company name"

I have to be honest with you by saying that I dread going to the bank to make deposits and get change. I am unsatisfied and completely frustrated with each experience I have have thus far. I am seriously considering changing banks. I hope that you address this with them immediately and hopefully the individuals behind the counter can listen to what the client is saying before they ask the same questions 4 times.

From: Customer Serivce 3:12pm
We have the #1 Branch @ 925 ***** Road (xxx-xxx-xxxx) by the diner
and also the #2 Branch @ 505 ***** Road (xxx-xxx-xxxx) across from
Home Depot. Which number are you calling? Could it be possible that the
wrong branch is being called?

From: me 3:15pm
No I am calling the correct branch and they have the change ready. It just seems to be a process to get.

Minor (no one is hurt) Car Accident, also know as not a good enough reason for my insurance premium to be raised

Date: Wednesday Janary 28, 2009
Time: 1:30pm-ish
Weather: Snow has now turned to rain, icy
State of Mind: Happy (until accident)

Accident: His front passengar bumper hits and scrapes my entire front bumper. My bloody license plate comes off!

I am pulling out of the parking lot of the building in which I live. I have pulled out of this parking lot about 1,124 time before. I look both ways. I clearly do not see the gentleman (soon to be called other names) driving down the road. It is raining and now I am going to be late for work. Happy is out of the window. I dont have a coat and the rain is ruining my fabulous hair.

I move my car to allow for traffic to get by(as any decent citizen would do). I proceed to pick up my license plate that is sitting in a puddle and put it into my car. I am annoyed as now this gives a copper reason to pull me over. Bastard! The guy who I collided with is now yelling at me. Yelling "I am not allowed to move my car and how dare I move after we just had an accident." I tell him to chill the hell out. I let him know that I am moving out of the way of traffic and he needs to stop friggin yelling...

(If you know me you will know that its hard for me to not yell back - but I kept my cool as when one is in a car accident you must always have the law on your side.)

The police office arrives after many minutes of dirty looks from the evil man. He gets the evil mans story and I give mine. (As a reminder, we were driving about 7 miles per hour.) The evil man that I have now named, "Pathetic, unemployed piece of garbage", tell the police officer that his lower back hurts. At this point, I lose it! I make it clear that I was driving no more than 7 miles per hour and there is NO FRIGGING WAY his back hurts from this accident!!!

Needless to say he takes pictures form his phone, get a witness who tells exactly what happened as she was home - sitting on her proch smoking, clearly unemployed. The "witness" does tell the police officer that he was yelling at me. As a reminder people, why you need to remain mainly calm at an accident.

We all part our seperate ways. My hair is ruined. I am cold. I am annoyed. I am late for work and missed an interview. I could have used a massage too.... It is all the "Pathetic, unemployed piece of garbage"'s fault.

Recycling (lack of) in my building

Date: Monday January 26, 2009
Time: email sent 3:37pm
State of Mind: Clearly annoyed from the morning debacle at Dunkin'

To Whom It May Concern:

I would like to address a matter that is very important to me, recycling. In previous correspondence I had addressed my concern that the building was not recycling. I would like to request two large garbage bins, one for comingled the other for household paper. When the mailbox was in working order, many times residents would leave their household junk mail in the hallway. Now, I realize that not everyone will embrace the concept, however, I really would like to push us moving towards being a "greener" building. I know that the town picks up recycling on Tuesdays for our address. I would be more than willing to help or coordinate a program. I would be willing to hand out flyers and potentially poll the residents to see if this is something that they would participate.

I look forward to hearing from you within a reasonable period of time to discuss the options.

Dunkin Donuts, Elmwood Park....

My recent comment to corporate Dunkin Donuts about the store on Route 4 (market street, elmwood park)
Date: Monday Jan 26, 2009
Time: 11am

I walked into the store about 11am on a Monday morning. The store is usually busy and there were 4 people behind the counter assisting customers. The gentleman I was helped by, Miguel, was on his cell phone. He did not get off the phone to help me, adn I should have said "ill wait for your to finish your conversation". Instead I ordered, in disbelief that someone needed to have a personal conversation that desperately. He continued to stay on the phone for the remainder of the time I was in the store. Which was approximately 5 minutes as I awaited for a bagel.

I later called the store and asked to speak to a Manager, there was no one on duty. I thought that you might want to address this issue. I understand that we all need to have personal conversations, however, one should step away from the area where customers are to do so.
