I seem to have a passion for customer service and unfortunately some, do not. Now, it would be okay if these select individuals were not in customer service industries... alas, that is not the case.
It drives me crazy when you walk into a store and the people who are working there are not smiling, and sometimes barely alive. If you are that unhappy dealing with the public or you hate your manager, QUIT. Seriously, I could care less about your problems and I am sure the rest of the world feels the same way.
For example on a recent visit to my new favorite fast food Mexican place... I encountered this: The young lady at the register seemed to be having a really terrible day and when I ordered my burrito, I would have preferred that she look at me and acknowledge that I was standing right in front of her, instead she started arguing with her manager about being off that coming Friday as it was Halloween and she needed to go to a party.
Let us review:
Her manger looked as though he was going to die (and trust me I know the feeling...). I am not sure if she thought I was unable to hear her or to be more honest with myself, she did not care. I wanted to tell her that "yes I can hear you and no, its not appropriate that you are having this conversation on the floor of this amazingly delicious fast food Mexican place.. and yes, you should be smiling when you see people, because contrary to your belief its rude and inconsiderate that you complain about your schedule in front of anyone that does not work there... because young lady, I do not care about your Halloween costume and I really do not care about your less than poor attitude towards your place of employment" and then after she is stunned and unsure of what to say, as human contact is not the medium she is used to having disagreements as her my space seems to be her saving grace, I remind her that I would prefer "she not spit in my food as I saw 'Waiting' and its taken me a long time to get back to not being completely disgusted by restaurants"
